Mission Possible – A Lingerie Treat for Valentine’s Day

So this might be a post you’re not expecting right now, as you’ll know I’m six months pregnant…so talking about sexy lingerie may not appear high on my agenda. BUT, John Lewis recently asked if the hubby would be up for trying out their useful shopping guide for buying lingerie and I was not going to turn down the opportunity for him to potentially be overwhelmed in the female underwear aisles…

However, the shopping guide may have been more useful than I had anticipated…

Buying lingerie for your other half

We decided, that as I’m heavily pregnant, lingerie was probably not high on the agenda for right now and my sizing is all off and it’d mean I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it or wear it for very long. So instead, as a bit of a treat and something to look forward to…a “push present” even, I’d be treated to some beautiful John Lewis lingerie to wear post-birth (and I mean a good few months post!).

So armed with the knowledge of my body (one hopes) and the valuable information gathered from these helpful lingerie buying tips, off he went, one Sunday morning, with the sole purpose of picking-out some knickers and bras for moi!

The guide reminded me to check your knicker drawer before I left

Well that’s a good start – at least he had a look through my selection of pre-pregnancy underwear to see what size I am usually…well done hubby!

I knew I had to look for bras designed for big boobs!

Again, quite impressed at this knowledge. Not all brands cater for the bustier lady (I’m an FF/G cup), so at least he knew there’d be some brands to specifically focus on when shopping at John Lewis. Another tip of the cap to you sir!

The results…

So, I’ve not been allowed to see the results of this shopping excursion until today, Valentine’s Day…

And I have to say, he’s done soooooo well! He went straight for the right brand, Freya, which creates fantastic underwear for bigger boobs. He also didn’t go for anything overly skimpy that I’d be falling-out of! Bravo!

He opted to buy me a few different looks – something feminine, something suitable for more everyday wear and then something a little sexier…good idea! Plus I’ll be so sick of maternity pants by then, that I’ll be excited to have three new sets of lingerie to wear! Eek!

I’m surprised he went for such bright colours actually, so this is a refreshing change from my muted underwear drawer and possibly something I wouldn’t have picked for myself. But, my favourite of the bunch, is the black lacy number. I’m particularly impressed by this purchase, as it’s sexy without being skimpy, and it has a bra-let detail that I think will flatter my waistline, but makes it a little more than your average bra.

Plus….he got the right size! So reading that buying guide did really help.

As you can imagine, he’s grinning like a cheshire cat, all pleased with his shopping triumphs and ready to milk this success for the next 6 months. But hey, who am I to complain? I’ve got three new beautiful lingerie sets to enjoy when I’ll need something to enjoy more than ever!

Which one would you choose?

This post is in collaboration with John Lewis, who asked us to try out the helpful online buying guide. Like everything, I wouldn’t write about it if I didn’t love the brand and love the product. So I hope you find it useful too!
