250 Posts & My Blogging Goals for 2017

I started this blog, officially about 3 and a half years ago. I’d blogged before that but didn’t really have much focus with what I wanted from my blog. Then in 2013, HollyGoesLightly was born and I’ve been blogging about food, style, travel, lifestyle and now family bits ever since. And somehow, in my little corner of the internet, I’ve written 250 posts! It may just be a drop in the ocean for some of the bigger, full-time bloggers, but I’ve managed to create this in my spare time, alongside a full-time job and having a baby. So 250 posts is quite an achievement and it’s got me thinking about my blogging goals for 2017…

If you follow this blog, you may have read my post about me growing a pair and going-it alone, starting my own business. This was a pivotal turning point in my career and now I get to do 3 things I love and one of those is blogging. I’m by no means now a full-time blogger, but I do get to dedicate more than just spare moments of time on HollyGoesLightly and I can feel the momentum building in me.

I love to write, I love to take photographs and I feel my blog is my creative outlet and the more time I spend on it, the more I want to spend on it.

Blogging Goals for 2017

To keep myself focused next year, I want to set myself some blogging goals for 2017. I want to keep this momentum and I want my blog to get bigger and better. I hope some of you will continue to follow me and I hope I’ll pick up some new readers on the way too. Here are my blogging goals for 2017:

  • Post regularly – three times a week. This one speaks for itself really. Hopefully if people know when to expect my posts, there’ll be more likely to check-in regularly.
  • Use more video – incorporate a video into my posts wherever I can. I like to use original photography across my blog and am getting my head around video content, instagram stories, Facebook live and basically my face (and voice) recorded for the world to see.
  • Vlog – I’m not sure if it’ll come naturally, but I would like to vlog a bit more. I think it’s the way blogging is going and although I now feel old in the world of blogging, it’s a blogging goal of mine to establish some regular vlog posts.
  • Network – I run a Manchester bloggers network called #WeBlogMCR which you may have noticed before. I love this, as I get to meet other bloggers, vloggers and entrepreneurs in my home city. I always leave super inspired and I think the meet-ups make me a better blogger. So there’ll be plenty more of those in 2017.

So there are my blogging goals for 2017. I have lots more if I’m honest, but these are the four that’ll keep me on track with HollyGoesLightly next year…I hope.

Vote for me please

I’ve been mad enough to enter the UK Blog Awards 2017 and would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if you could take a minute to vote for me here! I really want to put Manchester Bloggers on the map. Wish me luck!

So 250 posts in, here’s to another 250! Cheers!
