#MarriedMay – Days 15 to 19

May is proving to be quite a wedding-y month for me, with lots of blog-posts on the subject, including my #MarriedMay posts. I guess as we’ve just passed our 1-year anniversary and with a few people getting married around me, I’m reflecting on our wedding day, the planning process and remembering just how much I love weddings!

So here’s my Days 15 to 19. You can see days 1-4, 5-10 and 11-14 also.

Day 15 – Our photographer – there was no doubt about us choosing the wonderful Emma Case Photography to capture our big day. Ever since I was a wedding planner and she photographed a wedding I’d help plan, I loved her relaxed and reportage style. I loved the little details that she captured and the less obvious way in which she documented the big day. Emma works with her husband Pete, who is equally awesome and the two of them feel like you’ve been friends for life…which is just what you need to get those perfect relaxed and fun shots of the day.

I’ve written a separate post on my Top 5 Wedding Photographers if you want to check that out too.

Day 16 – Honeymoon Destination – we knew for a while that we wanted to go to Italy, as we wanted somewhere that would be hot in May and where we wouldn’t spend too much time travelling to. Also somewhere with good food and drink! Italy fit the bill perfectly and we did 3 stops on our honeymoon: Venice, Lake Garda and Tuscany. 3 weeks of bliss!

Day 17 – Best Supplier – all of our suppliers were AMAZING, but I’m definitely happy that we Blue Steel Booths to provide our photo-booth for the evening reception. I wanted something fun that both kids and adults could get involved with, that didn’t take up too much room and that was a bit of a surprise. The booth was brilliant, looked good, they set-up without disturbing anyone and the photos were great!

Day 18 – Favourite Blog/s – I was totally addicted to wedding blogs and websites. I’d regularly check Rock n’ Roll Bride for inspiration, as well as Love My Dress, but also really loved looking at the gorgeous photos on OMG I’m Getting Married.

Day 19 – Wedding Theme/Colours – I’m not big on overly themed or stylised weddings, as I think they can look a bit unnatural. But from the day he proposed to me, I’ve loved my Platinum and Aquamarine engagement ring, which inspired us to go for a Tiffany Blue and Silver colour-scheme (not the claret and blue West Ham theme hubby wanted!). This was carried through in our flowers, ribbon-tied jars, bridesmaid dresses and wedding cake. It was very subtle as the venue was so grand already, but think it complimented everything beautifully.
