Happy New Year!

So it’s 2016! Where the hell did 2015 go?!

Last year was probably the most significant year of my life, with the birth of our baby daughter (our first child).  What a magical thing parenthood has been so far. I am currently enjoying every day, learning what being a mother is and means. So far it’s bloody brilliant. Don’t get me wrong, it’s tiring and sometimes difficult, but it’s so so fantastic and I love our little family so much.

So on to 2016 and what does it have in store? Lots hopefully! I have so many ideas floating around (generally in a haze of baby-brained-madness) and lots of things I want to do, both personally and professionally. But you’ll find out more about that as the year unfolds. But I reckon it’s going to be exciting.

What I will share is that I plan to travel as much as possible – both overseas and in the UK. 2015 has made me realise the importance of life experiences and time spent with your loved ones. I also want to expose my daughter to as many beautiful experiences, places and people as possible.

What else? Stress and anxiety! I am never letting these two awful things enter my life again (well not if I can help it any way). Being pregnant made me put my body and my baby first and 2015 was the first time in a long long time that I didn’t let things stress me out and I haven’t suffered with anxiety since giving birth. So I don’t plan to have that back in my life at all and will do all I can to eliminate it.

On the health, body, fitness side of things. I gave birth less than 5 months ago, so am not giving myself a hard time. Over the last year I’ve learned to love my body and the fact that it’s been able to do the most amazing thing ever…give life! So a few wobbles and stretch-marks, I can deal with. That being said, I have a couple of big events this year, including my 30th, so do want to look and feel good for those. So it’ll be slow and steady wins the race for me. Cut down on obligatory cake and coffee sessions with my mummy friends and step-up the exercise now the little one is a bit more independent. I’ve got a fair bit to lose and have set some personal targets for the year. I’ll be sharing those with you too.

But don’t think for a second that I won’t be eating. As I love food, eating out and cooking. So there’ll still be lots of that on this blog, don’t you worry.

Well, I think that pretty much sums up what I’m thinking this year might bring. I don’t want to go down the ‘new year’s resolutions’ route as I just don’t think I ever stick to them. But I’ll be checking-in as I achieve my goals throughout the year.

What are your plans and for 2016?
