Brunch at The Alchemist Media City

If you’re from Manchester or the North, chances are you’ll know the establishments run by Living Ventures called The Alchemist. The first one was and still is in Spinningfields and there’s also one on New York Street in Manchester. They also have branches in Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chester, Oxford and London. Simply said, they know how to do a cool bar with fantastic food.

I used to live in Salford Quays, when we first came up to Manchester and when we were there years ago, the BBC had just moved up to Media City and it was a bit of a ghost-town. There was the run-down and half empty Lowry Outlet Mall, a couple of outdated restaurants and the amazing Lowry Theatre. Sky High Afternoon Tea with WeBlogNorth – 100 feet up

Being a blogger, I get invited to some pretty cool stuff, but last week’s event with Robert’s Bakery, may have to top them all! When I was invited to a Sky High Afternoon Tea, at The Etihad in Manchester, I didn’t give much thought to what that actually meant, only that it sounded awesome and involved food! I rallied some WeBloggers together and the next thing you know, we’re standing in the ‘departure lounge’ ready for our flight, and it dawns on us that we’re going to be heading-up 100 feet in the air for our afternoon tea!

Now I’m not the best with heights and I’m certainly not an adrenaline junky, so the thought of being strapped into a chair, feet dangling, 100 feet up, wasn’t the most comforting notion. But how could I not do it? Surely it’d be a once in a lifetime experience?…Continue reading

Frickin’ Hell Mann Burger at Almost Famous

I’ve not written a foodie post in a while, so this one will knock your socks off! Like burgers? Like Mac n’ Cheese? Yeh I thought so! Well you will be drooling at the limited edition Frickin’ Hell Mann Burger that was recently available at Almost Famous. It was pure bliss!

Basically, the awesome household name (and sauce) Hellmann’s teamed up with the wicked burger joint Almost Famous, to bring a limited edition burger that showcased two of their delectable sauces. Obviously anything with a mac n’ cheese “skirt” is just fine by me! The hubby and I happily devoured one each (though it nearly defeated me), one lunch time last week…Continue reading
