8 Things you Should Definitely Do on a Cruise

Well if you’re anything like me, this cold weather is making you think about your next holiday! I’m contemplating next Spring/Summer and where would be good to go. One type of holiday I’m yet to experience is a Cruise holiday, but everyone I know that’s been on one, loves it!

From what I can see cruise holidays can be a great way to see the world, try new foods and make lasting memories. So I’ve been thinking of 8 things you can do once you’ve booked your first ever cruise

1. Eat, eat, eat

Cruises are known for fine dining. Modern cruise ships offer their passengers all sorts of wonderful international menus, as well as more traditional fare at every meal. Cruises are all about indulgence, so tuck in and eat what you want! I know I would!

2. See a show

Every good cruise ship offers entertainment, and if you’re lucky, you might get tickets to see a popular West End show — while you sail the high seas! These shows are often on the cruise liner itself, so why not see some of the world’s best musicals or some cabaret while you kick back and relax?

3. Relax

Ok, holidays are meant to be relaxing, but travelling can be quite difficult — that’s if you’re in a hurry. The great thing about cruise holidays is that they are designed to be laidback. There are no connecting flights to take, no tight deadlines to keep to, so why not allow yourself to take it easy for a few days while the ship does all the hard work?

4. Learn something new

Because cruises take longer than other modes of travel, there’s always something to learn on board. From foreign language classes, to craft workshops, to cooking courses and even the chance to try a new sport, like aerobatics, it’s really easy to get outside your comfort zone and learn something new.

5. Catch up on some reading

If you love to read, cruises offer you lots of time to lounge by the pool and get immersed in the latest bestseller from your favourite writer. In fact, reading has become such a popular past time on board that some cruise lines have a library that passengers can use at any time.

6. Make new friends

With so much to see and do on a cruise holiday, you and your fellow passengers will have no choice but to get to know one another and mingle at the various events on the ship. You can meet some really cool people this way, so don’t forget to socialise!

7. Get pampered

If you really want to relax on a cruise, head to the spa and get pampered. The treatments on offer will vary according to the cruise line and ship, but treating yourself is such good fun, especially if you’ve had a long, hard day reading by the pool. I’d definitely book in for mani, pedi and massage!

8. Party hard

When night falls, you can have a lot of fun on a cruise ship; from heading to a nightly disco, to enjoying drinks with your new friends, a cruise ship really comes alive after the sun sets, so have fun! What could be nicer that enjoying a glass of wine looking out to sea?

Have you been on a cruise before? What’s the best thing to do?
