Working from Home and Hygge

Since August this year, I’ve been officially self-employed. It’s a constant mixture of pressure and doubt, teamed with excitement and endless possibilities. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives (so far) and I’m loving every minute of it.

I get to do something different each day, combine 3 different “jobs”, work flexibly, be my own boss and work from home.

Working from home is one of those things that on the outside, seems the ultimate luxury. But on the other hand, means you have to be self-motivated and have the will-power to not do all those jobs around the house that need doing (you know, laundry, washing-up, general tidying) instead of your work.Continue reading

The 1st WeBlogMCR meet-up

As I’m still fairly new to the world of blogging (about a year into this blog), and still fairly new to the city of Manchester, I realised that I wanted to meet other bloggers in the north. I wanted to meet like-minded people, who are into blogging and make new friends…ahhhh.

So one evening I thought I’d send a tweet out to see who else was up for meeting bloggers in their area, to see if I could find a few others up for an informal drink and chat. Smiling and laughing is so important, but sometimes it’s like we have to remind ourselves to do it every now and then. With the stresses of modern daily life, financial worries, work troubles and self-image issues that we carry around with us, we often find that we frown more than we smile.
