Picnic and Pimms – A Trip to Lyme Park, Manchester

Some of you will know Lyme Park, Manchester due it’s association with one very famous leading man of English Literature…Mr Darcy. For this is the back-drop of the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice and the setting of the famous scene where Mr Darcy emerged from the Lake in his breeches (getting hot and flustered at the very thought!).

It is a stunning Edwardian estate with the most beautiful house, lakes and 1300 acres of grassland woods and walks. It’s the perfect place for families, singletons, couples and dog-walkers alike with space to enjoy the history of the property, fun and games, a quiet read and of course a picnic! We opted for the latter.

A honeymoon in Italy – Part 1 – Venice

We had the most wonderful honeymoon in Italy, in May this year. It sounds totally corny but it was everything we had dreamed of. The sun was shining (almost continually), the water was glistening, the food was outstanding and the Prosecco was flowing.

When picking a honeymoon destination, all the usual hot spots came up for discussion; The Maldeves, USA, The Bahamas, The Carribbean etc etc. All of which would have been amazing I’m sure. However, we wanted a honeymoon full of culture, food and relaxation and Italy came to mind. It also has the added benefit of being just a 2 hr 1o min flight away. We both like to relax, chill and sunbathe on holiday, but both also get bored quite quickly, so wanted somewhere with plenty of towns to visit and experiences to have away from the pool. Italy was the best honeymoon choice EVER!

A trip to the Victoria Baths Manchester

The Victoria Baths opened in Manchester in 1906 as a fully functioning place for people to meet, swim and work-out. It was the original leisure centre. It closed after 87 years and now is under-going restoration and a revitalised events calendar to bring it back to its former glory.

It’s a truly stunning building and it didn’t surprise me one bit when I found out they now host weddings, parties and other events there as it’s packed full of period features and history oozes out of every tile. Can you believe you can have your wedding reception in one of the swimming baths!? Ultra cool. They’ve accented the history of the building with vintage touches like the ‘Well Loved’ sign hanging from the viewing balcony and has that feel that lots of brides and grooms out there are loving…perfect for a vintage or DIY wedding.
