A Sunday stroll to the Altrincham Vintage Market

Those of you who know me will know I love all things vintage, so the Altrincham Vintage Market is the perfect way for me to while away a Sunday afternoon. So with hubby and camera in tow, off I went.

And it didn’t disappoint. With approximately 40 traders, selling a mixture of vintage-inspired handmade crafts, authentic vintage goodies and scrummy food – it’s a fabulous array of stall-holders, hosted in the town’s historic covered market. All of this to a retro soundtrack, spun live by DJs in the market.

Picnic and Pimms – A Trip to Lyme Park, Manchester

Some of you will know Lyme Park, Manchester due it’s association with one very famous leading man of English Literature…Mr Darcy. For this is the back-drop of the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice and the setting of the famous scene where Mr Darcy emerged from the Lake in his breeches (getting hot and flustered at the very thought!).

It is a stunning Edwardian estate with the most beautiful house, lakes and 1300 acres of grassland woods and walks. It’s the perfect place for families, singletons, couples and dog-walkers alike with space to enjoy the history of the property, fun and games, a quiet read and of course a picnic! We opted for the latter.

I’d seen him before a couple of years ago and he didn’t disappoint, so when I heard he was touring again, I sat on the internet at 9am and watched every date sell out before my very eyes! I’d missed out and was gutted. So when he added a couple of extra dates at London’s 02, I dived right in again and this time got tickets for myself and mummy.

8 months later, I was on the train down to London from Manchester (cheap upgrade to First Class so I could enjoy a couple of glasses of wine), in the Summer sunshine, absolutely chomping at the bit to see him perform live again. Mummy met me at Euston at we made our way down to the Embankment where we jumped on the Thames Clipper to Greenwich. What a great way to travel! With an on-board bar and views of the River Thames and London, it’s a 50-min journey to the 02 at Greenwich and costs £5.85 with your Oyster Card.
